Dr. Premashis (Prem) Manna is an incoming Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, The Ohio State University starting in January 2025. Currently, he is a senior postdoc fellow in Haran Lab at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel working at the intersection of single-molecule spectroscopy and plasmonics. Previously, he was a postdoctoral scholar in the Schlau-Cohen lab at MIT from 2018-2022. He obtained his Ph.D. (2017) from the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, University of Colorado at Boulder under the guidance of Ralph Jimenez and Amy Palmer. Dr. Manna completed his M.Sc. (2012) and B.Sc. (2010) in Chemistry from IIT Kanpur and Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur, respectively.
Prem co-started a YouTube channel (The Molecular Kitchen) where he talks about the science of cooking and also science in general. He spends his leisure time playing with his son, writing popular science articles or stories in Bengali, and occasional historical expeditions...
