
Shivam is a Ph.D. candidate in the Biological Division at The Ohio State University. His research focuses on the directed evolution of red fluorescent proteins with enhanced brightness and photostability for advanced bioimaging. His broader interests include protein engineering, structural biology, RNA therapeutics, Peptide chemistry, and advanced fluorescence microscopy.
He earned an M.S. in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) and a B.S. from the University of Delhi. Beyond his research, Shivam is deeply passionate about advancing chemical lab safety and driving innovations to elevate laboratory standards. He previously served as Vice President of the department's Joint Safety Team and currently acts as Safety Officer for the Manna Lab. Beyond chemistry, Shivam holds a keen interest in finance, rarely missing the Wall Street Journal's financial coverage. Outside of the lab, he stays active by playing racquetball and swimming.
